Design Trends for 2015

With a new year comes a new look! Here are some of our favorite ideas from around the web, so that you can find inspiration to make your home fabulous.

1. Add Marsala, 2015’s Pantone Color of the Year

An earthy tone that reminds us of the perfect glass of wine, Marsala is the perfect accent color to update any room with a warm shade and plenty of style.

2. You Can’t Go Wrong with Blue

As we scoured the Internet for the best ideas, we kept coming across bloggers discussing the color blue. BoConcept in New York went as far as to call the shade the “New Black,” and we couldn’t agree more. Blue is classic yet versatile, and even pairs well with Marsala.

3. Accent with Gold

As Business Insider reports, Zillow Digs has announced that homeowners are adding gold fixtures in 2015. But don’t only think of new bathroom fixtures! Votives, sconces, vases and other décor items add gold pops of color and mixing metals adds depth and ambience to any room.

4. Try the Contemporary Look

Inspired by the Paris runways during Fashion Week, Conde Nast Traveler thinks that loose geometric lines are going to be appearing in home décor. Whether it’s through accent furniture pieces or even painted accent walls, these bold designs really update a room’s look and prove how on-trend you can be.

5. Mix Up Black & White

As South Africa’s Life & Leisure points out, black and white are fundamentals to interior design. This year’s trend, however, encourages the use of softer shades of black and white that create a more relaxed ambience, without compromising the sophistication and glamour of the décor.

New Year’s Eve in South Florida

Known as the playground of the rich and famous, South Florida is home to one of the best party scenes on New Year’s Eve. So now that you’ve come to town fleeing the harsh winter up north, we’ve put together our list of top spots to ring in 2015.

1. Fontainebleau Miami Beach

Home to four of Miami’s most prestigious restaurants, the iconic Fontainebleau is our top choice for New Year’s Eve fun in South Florida. After enjoying any of the specialty menus provided that night by Michal Mina 74, Hakkasan, Scarpetta or Stripsteak by Michael Mina, you can walk across the lobby to LIV nightclub and rub shoulders with several celebrities who’ll be welcoming 2015 in Miami’s top hot-spot.

2. The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach

Located within walking distance of Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road Mall and of course, the beach, The Ritz-Carlton South Beach is hosting one of the city’s premiere pool parties, with a special guest DJ and an open bar from 9pm to 1am. Located in scenic Aventura, the resort houses Bourbon Steak and the newly-open Corsair by Scott Conant. With their fine-dining options hosting special three-course and six-course menus and a “Red Carpet Affair” New Year’s Eve gala, this is one of the area’s more elegant affairs.

4. W Fort Lauderdale

Owned by nightlife guru Rande Gerber, Whiskey Blue is dedicated to all things sophisticated, whiskey included. Hosting its 5th Annual Masquerade Ball at Whiskey Blue, the W Fort Lauderdale is a great location to spend New Year’s Eve with the party crowd.

Villa d’Este, Lake Como

Rarely, if ever, do we come across a spot where time just seems to stand still.  Welcome to Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, Italy, one of the most glamorous and fascinating hotels that we’ve ever visited. Classic, worldly, nostalgic, and oh-so-everlasting, Villa d’Este is a destination where you’ll find multiple generations of a family gathering to celebrate; you’ll watch wait staff welcome guests who have stayed at the resort for decades — perhaps first on their honeymoon and years later with their children and grandchildren.  And you will dine in style that is almost too perfect to be true. Sip a martini overlooking the stunning lakeside views, watch the lights of villas across the waterway sparkle at sunset and take a cruise along Lake Como to top off your day.  It’s not just the natural beauty of the area that we found so enchanting, it’s the overall feeling of “I have arrived and I deserve this!” that is most captivating. It’s a place where you will reflect, contemplate, and wonder where the next stop on your journey of life might be. The sense of history at Villa d’Este, the vistas and the overall opportunity to sit back and really enjoy yourself and whoever else might be at your side will leave you more rejuvenated than you could have ever imagined. This is a getaway that creates impressions, experiences and memories that define indulgent living, and an example of hospitality that sets the bar. We love Villa d”Este – it is Pop Culture worthy in all ways …
